Mission Public Relations supported Nokia US in the launch of the Lumia 900 Windows Phone in the heart of Times Square, New York.
An epic moment arose in Times Square, New York this evening as Nokia US and international rap superstar Nicki Minaj, came together to host a spectacular launch for the new Nokia Lumia 900. Local New Yorkers and tourists from around the world witnessed an exclusive takeover of the American Eagle CGI screens and a surprise live performance from Nicki on a raised branded Nokia stage. With an intense build up and a live countdown to the event, hundreds of bystanders and diehard Nicki fans took to the centre of Times Square, awaiting an experience that would go down in media history.
With thousands of screaming fans counting down the final seconds, 7.30pm EST finally struck and the stage was uncovered, revealing Nicki Minaj and her dancers. In true ‘Barbie’ style she wowed the crowd performing a medley of songs from her brand new album ‘Pink Friday… Roman Reloaded,’ as well as old classics. Directly after her performance, Nicki thanked the audience for attending and introduced the exclusive Nokia remix of her latest single ‘Starships.’London based DJ Doorly then took to the decks to spin the track during which, the fans and audience were filmed to appear in the official video for the Nokia‘Starships’ remix. Dancers took to the stage and crowd in a flash mob style, whilst bespoke, 3D Nokia-related content was displayed across the colossal American Eagle CGI screens.
